It sounds like you're thinking about staying there long term. I can't say it wouldn't be a good fit. And it seems like the salamanders can use all the help they can get.
I see! So you're looking for older books. Anything interesting?
With all the visitors that must be there, I can't imagine it's quiet all the time. Hopefully no one is too rowdy in the library, at least.
I'm considering it. The libraries, gardens, and my current living situation make it very tempting to switch coteries, though I don't believe there's a rule saying I can't remain a Viper while living away from Kiichpan.
I have a certain area of study in mind, yes. Whether or not this place has geographical concentrations of astral artes, similar to Dahna, is something I am very curious to know.
Nobody that I've seen so far. Of course, the occasional child has been a touch obnoxious, but I will spare the rod for the first offense.
Oh, I guess that's true. And there's no rule that says only one coterie can learn medicine... It sounds like you've put some thought into this over the past few days.
That's an interesting idea...and one I never really thought of. Rinwell said she could feel the energy of this place, a little bit. Maybe, in some ways, it's not so unlike home after all. Any luck so far?
Not that I know of. I will speak to Salamander of course, out of respect, but I don't imagine she will take issue either way. One less Viper for a Salamander healer to waste their time and energy upon.
I haven't gotten far enough in my research to be certain. I may end up enlisting her help, if I do need to sense such areas. As of right now... my hypothesis is still little more than an idea, and I don't want to put anyone at unnecessary risk.
I'll read more after Law leaves. I've been enjoying the time all of us are spending together. The books aren't going anywhere, and young people grow up so fast.
I would hope not. I meant it when I said they could use all the help they can get. Hell, they'll probably be relieved... Who knows, before long they might have whole classes for other coterie members.
I appreciate that. But she'll definitely want to know more about your thoughts on this. Maybe she's even been thinking about some of the same things.
Ah, right, it must be pretty lively there right now. You can tell him that the chickens are doing great. I think they miss him a bit, though.
That's a wonderful idea. Perhaps I will suggest it in our discussion.
Yes, she will, but as the subject matters leans towards the... darker side of artes, I want to be absolutely certain of my goals before approaching her. Rinwell does struggle with the alignment of her magic, and I wouldn't want to needlessly add to her discomfort.
Actually, it's been rather quiet. Relaxing, even. A lot of sleeping, eating, and simply enjoying one another's company. I've never enjoyed doing so little so much.
I have passed on your message. He appears pleased... and a little guilty.
I will include her as soon as I feel it's safe to do so. Rinwell is a highly accomplished mage and with her help we could accomplish our goals much faster, but... she is young, and still learning to accept her strength for what it is.
To be quite honest, I haven't spent time in the company of other people for anything less than practical or political reasons in some time. I'd almost forgotten how to behave on this level. As a human, rather than a Lord, or freedom fighter.
It really is. I have no idea how he does it. All his animals hate me :(
I think I know what you mean. Having lasting friendships, beyond just the people we've been traveling with...it feels new. Not to mention having a permanent place to stay. That part takes some getting used to.
What? I'm sure they don't HATE you. Maybe they just...need to get to know you?
I believe I am. Artes can be very personal, and for Rinwell there's an added layer of culture to complicate things. Shionne and I are Renan, and thus use artes, but neither of us are mages. That experience is unique to Rinwell.
Yes, very new for most of us, I think. Simply in different ways.
They hate me. Grenar attacks me on sight. It may have something to do with the fact I've called him delicious.
Hm. I don't know much about artes, but I can picture that being the case. Sometimes it feels like fighting styles are the same way... Although probably even moreso, for Rinwell.
Really? You always seem so composed about everything, even here. Like you've been doing it for years.
Well...I know I wouldn't like being called delicious. Maybe you could try apologizing? With some food?
I know it may come as a surprise to you, but you all... are my first real friends in many ways.
As a Lord I had plenty of acquaintances and retainers. Friends? Not since before I was a Lord, within those few years pre-contest I was allowed to follow my own dreams.
Really? I think delicious is a wonderful compliment. It has a certain... lascivious quality to it. Granted, I really did just want to eat them. Those plump little breasts and thighs are ripe for broiling.
Without my memories, I can't speak much to friendship. But I know what you mean...there's a lot to get used to. In Mosgul, all I had was the clothes on my back and a cot where I slept...and even that belonged to someone before me. Here, I've got a house of my own. A whole house. What does anyone do with that much space?
Maybe the chickens just want to be known for something other than their la [.........this word is clearly a struggle, he strikes through a few times and finally changes gears altogether] ...quality of meat. Maybe compliment their feathers. Or beaks. Something like that?
...
...Not that I disagree, they'd probably be very tasty.

Understood. I don't understand much about artes, but I'd be virtuous about this hypothesis of yours, too, when you feel more sure about it.
Relaxing, huh? I'm glad you're enjoying it. I feel like the downtime just makes everything feel...longer.
Sorry! I didn't mean to make him feel guilty. It's weird howmuch animals love him, is all

I do love their feathers. They would make wonderful pillows..

It really was fun. We should do more things like that.
.........doesn't necessarily have to be at Law's place, though. It was a little cramped.

I believe they call it a 'family affair'.
