Personality
Dohalim is an eccentric man with a fierce passion for the arts and the power and bloodline of a tyrant.
Upon first glance he is both poised and graceful. A Renan lord of great dignity and unusual diplomacy whose face could be on he side of a Gald coin. The most recent and promising scion of the Il Qaras bloodline, renowned for their mastery of the Astral Artes, both martial and magical. He is well-read and highly educated. A warrior and a scholar. Upon first glance.
Friends of Dohalim (of which there are very few) see the ex-lord in a very different light. For all his intelligence, he is absurdly ignorant to the plight of the average person. Before abandoning his post as Lord of Elde Menancia, he had never dressed himself, groomed himself, or bathed himself without the assistance of multiple servants. The learned helplessness is real. Privileged to the point of pathetic, Dohalim has never performed and honest day of work in his life, and likely never will.
Having been told he is perfect, special, and important almost every day of his life, he is vain and self-important. Overly obsessed with fashion and aesthetics. He loves music, dance, and art. More concerned with the architecture of a dungeon than it's danger. Easily distracted by beauty and finery, his taste leans towards the absurdly rare and expensive. Used to getting what he wants when he wants it, Dohalim has no concept of money, and spends frivolously on antiques and curiosities.
Beneath the title and the silk, Dohalim is incredibly sensitive, which is both a blessing and a curse. Emotionally immature, he prefers to live in an idealized fantasy of his own making than to face the ugliness of the real world. When forced to confront the reality of his position as lord and the very real pain of his past and future, Dohalim has a mental breakdown. If it weren't for the love and loyalty of his friends, it's very likely he would have sacrificed himself to escape the mistakes of the man he was, rather than learn to accept the man he is.
Only through fighting, healing, and living beside his comrades does Dohalim learn what it's like to be a human, and not a lord, idol, or actor in his own play. Through time he has become a dependable, compassionate human whose strength comes from within, rather than from an astral core, bloodline, or crown.
Would you consider your character to be heroic? Why or why not?
Dohalim is a well-intentioned idiot with the capacity to be a great hero or a great villain, and has already lived out a little of both. His goal to undo the damage he has caused and make up for past mistakes is a noble one, but his desire to be selfless is still more than a little selfish. He wants to end the war between people of Dahna and Rena, and with that the painful war inside of himself. What he'll do after that remains to be seen.
Abilities
Dohalim is a master of earth and darkness magic, as well as incredibly skilled in melee battle with a rod. A chosen lord and unwilling participant of the elite Crown Contest, he is one of the most powerful artes users in either world. Surprisingly, he is also a healer of significant ability. A skill often left to the lower ranks of Renan arte users, while their superiors focus on offensive artes as a display of power and rank. List of all skills/artes.
